Missions Trips

The Hickey's enjoy visiting MCCH on an annual basis.  It is their desire to take teams with them to visit the children and see first hand what God is doing at the home.

About Mercy and Caring Children's Homes

We are a Canadian registered charity that owns 10 acres in Kenya.  We built a children's home in 2007 for orphan and vulnerable children to live and thrive.

Our mandate is to care for children who are orphaned and vulnerable.  We work with the local District Children's Office to identify children who need our care and  would benefit living at the home.  We have a great reputation in the community.  If a young child shows up abandoned on the streets the authorities contact us and bring us the child.

We provide the children with clothing, necessities, food, shelter, safety, school fees and uniforms.  They are cared for by loving caregivers who encourage them and remind them that they are treasured by God.  We offer them hope for a brighter future.

Mercy and Caring Academy is our school that is situated on the property.  It currently has classes from Pre-primary 1 (junior kindergarten) to grade 5.  The school was opened to the community in 2021.  We have plans to expand the school include grade 6 in 2024.  Our school has smaller class sizes than that of local government schools that are over crowded.  This is a great advantage for these young vulnerable children who are in our care.

This home is completely funded through donations.  The Canadian organization is staffed with volunteers who donate their time and talents.  Other than a very small percentage, for operating costs, most  (more than 97%) of the funding is used to help the children and pay the staff who care for them.
